What is this course about?

Pharmacists are legal drug dealers. In the Pharmacy course, you will study medicinal substances and ensure the safe and effective use of medications. You will learn how to prepare and dispense medicine as well as review medications and provide the right drug information for patients.

How long is this course?

A bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy takes approximately three to four years to complete.

What are the skills and characteristics required in this field?

You should have a strong interest in disease management, health issues and sciences associated with medicine development and clinical use. It would also be helpful if you have a voluntary spirit andprior experience in administrating humanitarian aid to the unfortunate, sick or injured.

Where do I go after my diploma/degree?

After graduation, you must complete a one year pupilage or pre-registration training and pass a Forensic examination conducted by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia. You must then complete three years of compulsory government service before you can register as a pharmacist.

What can I do with a degree in Pharmacy?

You will find career opportunities in public and private sectors including government hospitals, private hospitals, community practice and the pharmaceutical industry. You will be involved in supplying medicine to the people, providing advice on healthcare products or designing new medicines that are of the highest qualify and safety. Medicine

What is this course about? In the Medicine course, you will be taught how to diagnose and treat a host of common illnesses including cough & fever, to full-blown pandemics such as the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) virus & recent Mexican swine flu. You will also learn how to contain and control the spread of diseases by promoting public healthcare and safety. Two of the most common undergraduate medical degrees are the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). The MD is the North American degree, whereas the MBBS is the UK degree. To be able to practice as a doctor in Malaysia, you must enrol in a medical school recognised by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC). You will gain clinical exposure and patient contact as early as the first year. A bachelor’s degree in Medicine takes approximately 5 years to complete. What are the skills and characteristics required in this field? To become a doctor, you have to be academically, emotionally and physically tough. You must enjoy working with others and be able to communicate with your fellow doctors and patients. You should also possess sound judgment and a high level of compassion, especially when dealing with patients’ lives and wellbeing. Where do I go after my diploma/degree? All medical graduates have to undergo a two to 3 years housemanship at a local or overseas hospital. After that, it is compulsory for all Malaysian doctors who wish to practise in Malaysia to serve the government for three years. On completion, you can take up a multiple year residency under the supervision of fully licensed physicians in a hospital or clinic to become a specialist. You can specialise in a specific branch of medical science, such as surgical specialties, internal medicine, diagnostic specialties and neurology. What can I do with a degree in Medicine? You will be able to find employment in private and public hospitals, as well as health care organisations. You can also join a medical institution, teach or conduct research. Upon specialising, you can start your own private practice and be eligible to become a consultant.

Civil Engineering

What is this course about?
Learn the design, construction, and maintenance of public works such as bridges,roads, canals, damsbuildings. You will be taught how to construct, renovate, repair, maintain, and upgrade infrastructures as well as develop solutions for urban areas to prosper and grow. and

How long is this course?

Approximately 3 to 4 years to complete A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

What skills and characteristics do I need in this field?

You should have a natural inclination towards mathematics and physics to be in this field. You should also have an eye for design to design civil engineering systems and processes that meet the demands of your profession. Communications skills and team work are also important as you may be required to work, both as an individual or in a group. The ability to understand the impact of engineering on society and humanity is also deemed essential.

Where do I go after my diploma/degree?

You can pursue a postgraduate degree in a specific major such as Master of Construction Engineering, Master of Geomatic Engineering, Master of Highway & Pavement Engineering, and Master of Civil-Hydraulics & Hydrology. Postgraduate studies are conducted in two modes, coursework, in which you are required to attend lectures and complete assignments, and research, in which you are required to undertake a research project under a supervisor.

You can also start applying to become a member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) to be able to find employment as an engineer.

What can I do with a Civil Engineering degree?

You can find employment with urban and rural development industries, contractors, engineering firms, and state authorities as a construction manager, consultant, designer, planner and researcher. Your jobscope will include designing buildings and facilities, supervising constructions and managing large scale projects.
